Blog Introductions, Pre-Japan Thoughts, and Packing Procrastination

Welcome, family, acquaintances, friends, and foes alike, to the official blog of Zoe V. Herron!

Writing and running a blog is something I've intended to do for several years, but between a lack of free time and my poor web design skills, it's just never really happened. However, after my graduation from high school last month, my lovely and HTML-talented little sister, Gaby, offered to create me one as a gift.

Thus, through a bit of brainstorming, came the birth of "Folds of Faith". While I plan on initially using this a forum to document my exchange in Japan from July 8, 2014 to August 4, 2014, I hope to continue updating it in college as a faith and lifestyle blog.

Of course...I can't end my first-ever blog post without talking about my month in the Land of the Rising Sun. I am leaving for San Francisco very early the day after tomorrow...at 7:10 AM if you really wanted to know. From San Fran I will be flying for over 11 1/2 hours to Osaka.

To be honest, I don't even know to think or feel. I've never traveled out of the country or traveled on my own, and definitely not both at the same time! I know very little about the specifics of my actual trip, but I am so grateful to the Thurston County Lion's Clubs for providing me with once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and to my parents and friends for supporting me along the way.

On a slightly sillier note, I absolutely detest packing...how am I supposed to know how to pack for such a long trip, to a country I've never even set foot in? Actually, I shouldn't even be writing right now; I should be packing...

Sayonara!

Zoe
